TreePeople is hiring a Community Forestry Associate to support tree planting, maintenance, and community engagement in the San Fernando Valley. The role involves field work, data collection, and coordinating volunteers to advance local environmental projects.

Ideal candidates are organized, proactive, and capable of handling physical tasks and weekend work. This grant-funded position runs through November 3, 2028, with potential for extension based on funding and project needs.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Available to work weekends.
• Residency in San Fernando Valley preferred or within commuting distance.
• Valid CA Driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Spanish fluency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plant and maintain 15-gallon street trees.
• Assist with community workshops and volunteer-led events; attend site visits.
• Drive a truck to transport trees and water trees regularly.
• Support volunteer participation in tree planting and care events.
• Assist with organizing community tree planting events with volunteers.
• Maintain data on tree planting and maintenance using inventory systems (GPS/site maps).
• Follow safety procedures and use of PPE; report unsafe conditions.
• Represent TreePeople at meetings and community events as needed.
• Support site assessments and outreach activities with approved materials.
