Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections in Tukwila is seeking a Community Corrections Officer 2 (or CCO1 In-training) to supervise supervised individuals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for safe community reentry.

The role supports the in-training plan, with shift hours 0800-1700, and opportunities to progress to CCO2. firearm handling and driving license are required, and applicants must work with individuals with criminal backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Must be able to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm.
• Must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in Washington.
• Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti-social behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise criminal SIs ordered to supervision in the community in accordance with Washington state law and agency policy.
• Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests.
• Complete intake and administer assessments (risk, needs, substance abuse).
• Engage with S/Is to work towards positive change using communication strategies.
