Job summary

AMD in Austin, TX is seeking a Partner Support Field Applications Engineer to support OEMs and datacenter customers. You will help with new product introductions, debugging, and technical engagements across GPUs, CPUs, and diagnostic tools.

Key work includes building technical relationships with end customers, delivering POCs, and guiding cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements with AMD technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS.

  • Experience with datacenter workloads and AMD hardware is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop end customer POCs with OEM platforms to meet requirements.

  • Win new opportunities by designing solutions based on AMD technology.
  • Coordinate with AMD teams to create field presentations and docs.
  • Support large enterprise customers by feeding back to AMD BU/engineering.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to customer development teams.
  • Lead technical sessions and define customer expectations.
  • Translate customer issues into AMD-based solution opportunities.
  • Evaluate partner requirements against our product capabilities.
  • Present and train OEMs, partners, prospects.

The Role

AMD’s Partner Support Field Applications Engineering Organization is responsible for supporting our OEM SA with end customer engagements.

We are looking for our next team member to support new product introduction and debug efforts with our global datacenter customers, focusing on solutions involving GPUs, CPUs, and associated diagnostic and development tools.

  • Proficient in managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting common client applications and datacenter workloads on AMD hardware with priority end customers
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with a good balance of hardware, architecture and software expertise
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Strong internal (Sales, Marketing, Engineering) and external (customer/partner/OEM) relationships

Key Responsibilities
  • Development of end customer POCs with OEM platform solutions to ensure testing and performance is per customer’s technical requirements.
  • Develop technical relationships with target end customer accounts and OEM partners
  • Win new commercial opportunities by working with our partners by establishing technical solutions based on AMD technology
  • Work with AMD internal teams across AMD Business Units to build technical presentations and documentation to be delivered in the field
  • Improve AMD’s ability to support large enterprise end customers by driving feedback into AMD BU and engineering teams
  • Provide technical assistance to sales personnel and the end customer in the evaluation, design and development of AMD based Server and Client solutions
  • Partner with sales in determining possible application of AMD based products and solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Perform technical presentations, training and updates for OEM, partners and prospects
  • Translate large enterprise customer business issues and requirements into technical solution opportunities/engagements that best demonstrate AMD based product offerings
  • Influence and evaluate technical specifications and requirements for our partners with their RFPs
  • Possess a solid understanding of the competitive landscape and clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition associated with AMD versus its competitors
  • Proficient in security requirements, certifications, and the AMD-based security solutions for large enterprise customers across the ecosystem including AMD hardware, OS, and OEM platforms
  • Lead technical design sessions; architect and detail technical solutions that are aligned with customer objectives
  • Lead technical scopes, requirements and customer expectations
  • Provide hands‑on, expert‑level technical assistance to end customer development and software teams
  • Be a credible subject matter authority to customers on direct and indirect product capabilities.
Preferred Experience

Proven experience with Server architecture, GPU architecture is a plus-- either integrating, debugging, and/or validating various system components. Server software environments include Operating systems (Windows, Linux), compilers, benchmarks, and targeted applications that may be used to validate server platforms. developing and debugging low level server-based applications, or validating HW components – CPU, GPU, Boards, Storage, etc.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale rollouts of datacenter equipment.
  • Networking knowledge -- TCP/IP, RDMA, RoCE, NICs, Switches, etc.
  • Familiarity with AI Models and PCIe Architecture
  • Proficient in server software ecosystem (ie: OS/Hypervisors, Compilers, Libraries, debug tools, development tools and validation workloads).
  • Knowledgeable in platform firmware features (BIOS, BMC, SMU).
  • Hands‑on experience and strong expertise in server hardware ecosystem at the node, rack and datacenter level.
Academic Credentials

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field with proven relevant industry professional experience
