Job Purpose

The Field Applications Engineer is a customer and operations-facing role, requiring a broad understanding of customer needs and the ability to leverage Sanmina’s resources to develop solutions. They will support sales strategies by providing technical expertise to promote design wins, maximize margins, and grow market share. Building relationships with customer engineers and engineering management, especially in plastics design and manufacturing, is essential.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement technical sales strategies, presenting new products and technologies to current and potential customers.
2. Understand customer needs deeply and coordinate with Sanmina’s engineering and manufacturing teams to identify solutions.
3. Identify opportunities early in the design cycle through customer relationships.
4. Participate in customer design reviews.
5. Build relationships with key technical decision-makers and influencers.
6. Collaborate with FSEs, suppliers, marketing, and operations to increase design wins.
7. Support sales activities, advocating solutions that meet customer needs and drive demand.
8. Manage opportunities from concept to production, ensuring success.
9. Attend sales and business reviews, developing strategic technical plans.
10. Partner with sales on pre- and post-sales technical support.
11. Manage expectations by maintaining relationships and reporting progress.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of field sales/support experience.
• Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding and design principles.
• Experience with the complete design cycle, SolidWorks, and Mold Flow.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills, able to prioritize and multitask.
• Understanding of sales processes is preferred.
• Deep expertise in plastics design and manufacturing is ideal.
• Established relationships with key technology suppliers and customer engineering teams.
• Willingness to travel 20-35% of the time.
