Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to serve as the primary technical bridge between CRFS engineering and our diverse customer base. You will provide expert-level support, hands-on training, and troubleshooting for complex RF systems and networked solutions.

The role involves on-site deployment, field integration, and generating test plans and reports. Travel up to 50% domestically with some international travel, supporting sales and customer success with RF expertise.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of RF concepts (frequency, power, spectrum analysis) and proficiency with test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and multimeters.
• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related technical field; military technical school may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience working in ESD-controlled environments.
• Basic to intermediate networking skills including TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and hardware configuration.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with specialized software and OS environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-tier technical assistance remotely and on-site to CRFS customers.
• Deliver comprehensive technical training to end users, from basic system operation to advanced usage.
• Perform diagnostics and high-level repairs on CRFS equipment in office and field.
• Deploy to customer locations to support installation of CRFS equipment.
• Develop test plans and summary project reports to support customer exercises and field activities.
• Support Sales Teams with system demonstrations and technical advice.
• Proactively manage demonstration equipment and inventory for deployment readiness.
• Relay field data and feature requests to drive product improvement.
• Travel up to 50% to customer sites and trade events.

Job Description

CRFS is seeking a Field Applications Engineer who will report to the Manager of the US FAE Team on the US Field Applications Engineering team. The successful candidate will serve as the primary technical bridge between CRFS engineering and our diverse customer base — providing expert-level support, hands on training, and troubleshooting for complex RF systems and networked solutions.

The following represents the current essential functions of this position. CRFS leadership may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at its discretion.

Responsibilities Include

• Customer Support: Provide high-tier technical assistance remotely and on-site to ensure mission success for a diverse range of CRFS customers.
• Technical Training: Maintain and deliver comprehensive training to end users, ranging from basic system and software operation to advanced system use.
• Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics and high-level repairs on CRFS equipment both in the office and in the field.
• Field Integration and Support: Deploy to customer locations to support, configure, and assist with the installation of CRFS equipment.
• Technical Reports: Develop test plans and summary project reports to support customer exercises and field activities.
• Sales Support: Support Sales Teams with system capability demonstrations and technical advice to advance sales objectives.
• Inventory Management: Proactively manage all demonstration equipment and inventory to ensure it is calibrated, updated, and ready for deployment at all times.
• Feedback Loop: Act as the voice of the customer, relaying field data and feature requests back to the appropriate internal teams to drive product improvement.
• Travel Requirement: Up to 50% travel, primarily domestic with some international, to customer sites and trade events.
• Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

Preferred Qualifications

• RF Expertise: Solid understanding of RF concepts (frequency, power, spectrum analysis) and proficiency with test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and multimeters.
• Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field. Relevant military technical school experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• ESD Skills: Experience working on static-sensitive equipment in ESD-controlled environments.
• Networking Knowledge: Basic to intermediate networking skills including TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and hardware configuration.
• Technical Literacy: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with specialized software and standard OS environments.
