Job summary

Acbel Polytech Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Application Engineer specializing in Power Electronics to support customers, design integrations, and validate performance of power products.

You will collaborate with multiple teams to drive product improvements and deliver training and documentation. The role requires at least 5 years in AC/DC or DC/DC design, strong power measurement skills, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years in defining, architecting, or designing AC/DC or DC/DC converters or mixed-signal ICs.
  • Experience supporting power components for server, storage, or desktop power systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with power measurement tools and bench testing on customer PCBs/modules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical support for power and charger products to customers.
  • Collaborate with customers on designing and developing power management solutions and integration guidance.
  • Conduct testing of AC/DC, DC/DC, high power and other power supply systems to validate performance.
  • Work with Quality to generate reports (e.g., 8D) and resolve product issues.
  • Lead training sessions for customers and create application notes and documentation.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to drive product improvements and new features.
  • Collaborate across R&D and software teams globally to debug issues and improve designs.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Field Application Engineer with a focus on Power Electronics to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to customers using our power and charger products, troubleshooting issues, assisting in the design and integration of our products into our customers’ systems, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

In this role, you will work closely with customers, Business Development, Sales, R&D, and Quality teams to drive product improvements, develop training materials, and help shape the next generation of AcBel’s power electronics solutions.

  • Customer Technical Support: Provide expert technical support to customers for power and charger products, troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal performance and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Design Assistance: Collaborate with customers in designing and developing power management and charging solutions. Offer guidance on integrating our power electronics products into their systems, and support device recommendations, schematic reviews, and circuit debugging.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct comprehensive testing of AC/DC, DC/DC, high power, low power, high voltage, and low voltage switch mode power supplies and other related systems, ensuring accurate performance validation.
  • Quality Collaboration: Work closely with the Quality team to generate acceptable reports (e.g., 8D reports) and assist in identifying and resolving product-related issues.
  • Training and Documentation: Lead training sessions for customers, develop application notes, and create comprehensive documentation to assist customers in using our products effectively.
  • Customer Feedback and Product Improvement: Collect and analyze customer feedback on product performance and collaborate with Business Development and R&D to drive continuous product enhancements and the development of new features.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work with R&D and software teams across different global regions to debug issues and improve product design.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in defining, architecting, or designing AC/DC or DC/DC converters or mixed-signal integrated circuits. Previous experience supporting power components for server, storage, or desktop power systems is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge of power architecture, specifically in sever, storage, networking and desktop power systems.
  • Proficient with power measurement tools and experienced in conducting bench tests on customer PCBs/modules.
  • Hands-on experience with setting up tests, understanding the interface to various equipment (including devices under test), and using instruments such as thermocouples, sensors, and electronic loads.
  • Strong experience in constructing and building electronics testing fixtures/equipment.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze problems and deliver practical solutions in a timely manner.
  • Presentation Skills: Solid presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin are required for effective communication with global teams and customers.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Strong interpersonal skills with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including both domestic and international travel.
