Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking personnel for a data collection and maintenance role at the Central Office in Jefferson City, MO. The position offers career ladder opportunities with progression to intermediate or senior levels based on experience and skills.

Initial salary is posted with intermediate at $41,685.12 and senior at $48,621.60. A Class B CDL must be obtained within six months; there is a temporary emergency pay adjustment of $3-$6 per hour during winter operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of a range of motion examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Installs and programs portable data collection devices at predetermined locations.
• Reviews recorded data to determine if data appears valid and downloads recorded data to mainframe system for storage and analysis.
• Helps with the installation and repair of permanent data collection devices.
• Helps with the operation of data collection vehicles used for pavement and friction testing and scenic byways data collection.
• Acts as a trainee in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical malfunctions involving data collection vehicles; performs daily maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Job Location: Central Office, 601 West Main, Jefferson City, MO

Note for internal applicants: Successful candidates already at rates above the posted salary will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine final salary outcome.

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $41,685.12, and a senior starting salary of $48,621.60.

This position will require obtaining a Class B Commercial Driver's License within the first six months of employment.

This position is eligible for a temporary emergency operations adjustment of $3 to $6 per hour, depending on the area of operation, when handling winter operation activities.

Special Working Conditions:

• Requires continuous, overnight, statewide travel within the state of Missouri Monday through Thursday, leaving Jefferson City Monday morning and returning Thursday (four 10-hour days).
• Job requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
• Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
