Beth Israel Lahey Health's Gastroenterology department in Boston is seeking a full-time Fibroscan Technician to perform fibroscans at our Boston location and off-site sites, traveling as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs fibroscans in Boston and off-site locations with travel arranged by the department.
  • Schedules and confirms all fibroscans and maintains an Excel spreadsheet for statistics.
  • Captures referrals and prior authorizations for fibroscans.
  • Travels independently to off-site locations and interacts professionally with patients and physicians.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.

The Gastroenterology department is seeking a full time Fibroscan Technician to work 40hrs/ wk, Monday- Friday; day shift.

Job Summary: The Fibroscan Technician provides direct patient care by performing fibroscans. The technician will prepare reports for physician signature and billing. The technician will travel with the portable fibroscan to other BIDMC locations; transportation will be provided by the Department. In addition, they perform various administrative responsibilities for the department, including scheduling/confirming fibroscan appointments, answering phones, scheduling Liver Center outpatient appointments and capturing prior authorizations. Incumbents will be Certified by the Manufacturer of the Fibroscan.

This position has a significant impact on the first impression patients and visitors experience when calling or arriving into the outpatient units. Incumbents will provide a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly and helpful.

Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Performs fibroscans in Boston location as well as our off site locations (transportation will be provided by the department).
  • Schedules/confirms all fibroscans in all locations in order to organize and maintain excel spreadsheet used for statistical purposes.
  • Captures referral and prior authorizations for fibroscans.
  • Works independently when traveling to off-site locations.
  • Interacts professionally with both patients and Physicians in all locations.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Certification in Fibroscanning by Manufacturer of equipment to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Age based Competencies: Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 .

Physical Nature of the Job: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Pay Range:

$22.00 - $32.69

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
