Job summary

Twin City Fan & Blower is seeking a Fiberglass Technician to manufacture fiberglass and composite components using layup and laminating processes. You will prepare, lay up, finish, and inspect parts used in industrial manufacturing.

You will read blueprints and production instructions, select resins and materials, and use hand tools and measuring equipment. Training provided for those willing to learn robust fabrication techniques.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret English safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills including fractions and decimals; ability to read a tape measure.

Job description

The Fiberglass Technician manufactures fiberglass and composite components using molds, resin, hand layup and laminating processes. This position prepares, lays up, finishes and inspects fiberglass parts used in industrial manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture fiberglass and composite parts using hand layup and laminating processes.
  • Prepare and grind fiberglass parts for layup and finishing.
  • Select and use the appropriate resin, fiberglass materials, molds and tools.
  • Read blueprints, test sheets and production instructions.
  • Inspect finished fiberglass laminations for trapped air, dry spots, resin pools, dimensional accuracy and other quality defects.
  • Use hand tools and measuring equipment to complete production work.
  • Tag product; have supervisor/team lead inspect product.
  • Additional duties may be assigned, dependent upon location and product line.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous fiberglass, composite, manufacturing, fabrication or production experience is helpful but not required. We provide training for candidates with the ability and willingness to learn the work.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English preferred. Ability to read and understand shop orders and time sheets.
  • Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions and decimals; Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to use tools in a safe and proper manner. The following certifications and training, if required, will be provided by the company.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations And Required Training

The following certifications and training, if required, will be provided by the company:

  • JSA completion, Forklift Operations, PPE identification and usage, Crane Training, hazard awareness/identification, Lift table operations, Rigging safety.
  • Understands SQDE Metrics, LDMS, Issue boards, 5S.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Continuously lift/move 10 pounds; frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes, or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
