Position Summary

Fiberglass & Gel Coat Technicians are responsible for repairing fiberglass cosmetic and gel coat damage. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail along with experience in fiberglass and gel coat work.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Identify defects such as cracks, blisters, stress fractures, and cosmetic flaws. Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair.
• Grind out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas using appropriate power or hand tools. Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly.
• Mix Gel coat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors. Buff and polish repaired surfaces.
• Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management. Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on projects.
• Collaborate with team members and provide guidance or support as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and OSHA standards.
• Stay updated on industry techniques and materials.
• Any other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands include repetitive motions of wrists, hands and fingers; standing or sitting for prolonged periods; moving about to accomplish tasks; operating motor vehicles; communicating with others; assessing accuracy of work; hearing, speaking, seeing, eye/hand/foot coordination. Physical demands may involve handling objects up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work occurs in an indoor office environment with controlled temperatures. The environment may involve small and/or enclosed spaces, exposure to intense weather conditions, and occasional exposure to VOCs. The job requires sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing and light to medium physical activity.
