Job summary

Team Fishel in Phoenix, AZ is hiring Fiber Splicing Technicians to support our utility construction operations. The role focuses on fiber fusion/splicing, testing, and field installations across buried, aerial, and building environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of fiber optic installation, maintenance, repair, and testing experience.
• Ability to fuse or mechanically splice SM/MM fiber and terminate connectors.
• Reads and interprets maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
• Able to climb and work at elevations and in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Fuse or mechanically splice SM or MM fiber optic cables and terminate connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• Install and test closures on all cable types and sizes.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems.
• Review maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
• Perform daily tests and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• Perform optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building locations.

Description

Team Fishel, the Best Choice for Utility Construction and Network Installation, is hiring Fiber Splicing Technicians for our Phoenix, AZ operations. The wage range for this position is $22.00 to $33.00 an hour depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• 1. Ability to fuse or mechanically splice SM or MM fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC).
• 2. Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
• 3. Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
• 4. Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings and blueprints, and testing documents.
• 5. Performs daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
• 6. Performs optical continuity and conformance testing.
• 7. Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.

Preferred Skills

• 1. Valid Driver's License
• 2. At least 2 years of experience installing, maintaining/repairing, and testing fiber optic networks.
• 3. Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment: Alcoa, Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo.
• 4. Ability to read, review, interpret, and understand technical documents.
• 5. Ability to climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)
• 6. Ability to work in confined spaces.
• 7. Previous underground utility experience.
