  • Splice fiber optic cables into OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) systems on transmission lines and towers.
  • Terminate all types of fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, etc.) using industry-standard tools and best practices.
  • Conduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and end-to-end link certification for multimode and single-mode fiber.
  • Rack, stack, and install communications equipment (switches, routers, servers, patch panels, ODFs, etc.) in 19” and 23” racks.
  • Dress, label, and manage fiber and copper cabling within racks and cable trays.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network issues, including attenuation, breaks, and dirty connectors.
  • Read and interpret fiber optic schematics, blueprints, and installation drawings.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of splicing records, as-built drawings, and test results.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, especially when working at heights, in confined spaces, or on live utility infrastructure.
  • Travel to job sites as required (local and/or overnight).
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Fiber Optic Technician.
  • Proven expertise in fusion splicing (preferred: Fujikura, Sumitomo, or similar splicers).
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • OM1–OM5 Multimode fiber
    • OS1–OS2 Single-mode fiber
    • OPGW fiber splicing and installation
  • Full proficiency in fiber termination (pre-terminated and field-terminated connectors).

  • Familiarity with OTDR, OLTS, VFL, and visual fault locators.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights (climbing towers/utility poles) and in various outdoor/field conditions.
  • Fiber Optic Certification (FOA CFOT, CFOS, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
