Job summary

Conexon is seeking a field technician to install FTTX broadband for residential and commercial customers in Lee’s Summit, MO. This on-site role requires climbing poles, lifting heavy objects, and using fusion splicers and OTDRs to ensure fiber splicing quality.

The position emphasizes collaboration with field teams, inventory management, and timely restoration of services after outages, with overtime included and travel limited to local area.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma required.
• PC skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Ability to use optical test equipment including fusion splicers and OTDRs.
• Physically able to lift 100 pounds and climb poles to 25 feet.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install FTTX broadband service to residential and commercial customers.
• Restore customer services after trouble tickets.
• Interior and exterior cabling of fiber optic and Ethernet cables.
• Document inventory assignments in the inventory system.
• Track feeder construction progress and coordinate with field personnel.
• Update equipment and document processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Highschool diploma required
• P.C. and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to use optical test equipment including fusion splicers and OTDRs
• Safely operate a company vehicle
• Strong communication skills
• Initiative to work remotely with limited supervision
• Strong leadership skills
• Physically able to lift 100 pounds
• Safely working from ladders and ability to climb poles to 25’

Responsibilities and Duties

• Installing FTTX broadband service to residential and commercial customers
• Assures customer services are restored after trouble ticket dispatch
• Completing both interior and exterior cabling of fiber optic and category ethernet cables
• Documenting assignment of inventory within inventory system
• Track progress of feeder construction
• Communicate with field personnel to assure inventory levels are sufficient
• Reconciling inventory
• Updating equipment associated with customers
• Documenting process and procedure
• Other duties as assigned by management

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Ability to walk long distances on a regular basis
• Ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to X pounds
• Ability to bend stoop kneel Crouch or reach as required by job tasks etc.
