Fiber Optic / Low Voltage Technician
Location: Vandenburg, AFB California On-Site. Work will be performed in restricted SCIF environments — adherence to security protocols is mandatory. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.
Typical Duties
- Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling within SCIF-rated pathways
- Install overhead and wall-mounted cable tray systems to support cabling infrastructure
- Terminate, splice, and test singlemode and multimode fiber (Corning systems)
- Conduct OTDR, power meter, and continuity testing with detailed reporting
- Install racks, patch panels, grounding systems, and secure cable management hardware
- Read and interpret SOWs, site drawings, and security compliance guidelines
- Follow strict SCIF access, escort, and material handling protocols
- Perform work in accordance with BICSI, TIA, and DoD standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years low‑voltage / structured cabling experience
- Hands‑on experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
- Prior work in government, military, or high‑security environments preferred
- Experience installing cable tray, conduit, and grounding systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 – Preferred
- BICSI Installer 2, Fiber or Copper – Preferred
- Corning, CommScope, or Panduit Certification – Preferred
- Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or higher preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be eligible for DoD background check and SCIF access
