Job summary

Ervin Cable Construction, LLC is seeking a Senior Technician Fiber Installation to install and maintain fiber optic networks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless service delivery. This role involves extensive field work and 75% travel to client sites, supporting multiple departments and ensuring customer satisfaction.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least three years of fiber optic experience. Training in fiber optics is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Three years experience with fiber optic cable technology.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver’s license (no provisional) with acceptable driving record.
• Formal fiber optic training strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Install, disconnect, reconnect, add, change, and troubleshoot fiber optic internet and telephone based on guidelines.
• Install, setup and configure all equipment.
• Identify and remedy sources of customer-perceived issues.
• Review all requested services with the customer to ensure understanding and agreement.
• Educate the customer regarding product and service usage.
• Coordinate fiber activities with Construction & Engineering departments.
• Construct network infrastructure like bays, racks, and jumper ducts.
• Maintain and stock vehicle and equipment.
• Perform overtime, travel, and on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Install, disconnect, reconnect, add, change, and troubleshoot fiber optic internet, and telephone based on guidelines
• Install, setup and configure all equipment
• Identify and try to remedy sources of customer-perceived issues
• Review all requested services with the customer in order to ensure understanding and agreement
• Educate the customer regarding product and service usage
• Assist & coordinate fiber activities with Construction & Engineering departments
• Construct network infrastructure like bays, racks, and jumper ducts
• Clean, maintain, and stock vehicle and equipment
• Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities as needed
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Three years experience with fiber optic cable technology

Additional Qualifications

• Formal fiber optic training strongly desired

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work at heights, in confined spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery; squeeze, fine hand motion, work with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and life greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
