Job summary

ILAN Builders in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Fiber I&R Technician to install, maintain and repair fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers, ensuring reliable internet, phone and TV services where applicable, and educating customers on service features.

You will work safely at heights and in confined spaces, lift up to 80 lbs, use your own truck and ladder rack, and coordinate with teammates to meet service metrics.

Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic internet and home phone service required.
• Must have own truck/van/SUV with a ladder rack and own tools.
• Must have a fiber splicer.
• Smartphone and laptop with Microsoft Excel.
• Lift up to 80 lbs.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Must pass background check, MVR, and drug test.
• Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Ability to adapt to new processes.

Responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance, and repairing of fiber optic systems for residential and commercial customers.
• Ensuring adequate performance of internet, phone and TV services.
• Complete pre-install work order and post-install service verification and customer education to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Place aerial or buried fiber optic drops and install interior and exterior wiring.
• Must be able to mark proposed drop paths for jobs needing BSW.
• Must be able to hand dig microduct from terminal to nid.
• Observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations.
• Work at heights by using/setting up various types of ladders.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Teamwork - Assist other technicians in the performance of their duties when requested.
• Must convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company's products and services to our customers.
• Have an ability to adapt to new processes and new information frequently.
• Use internal systems for work order notation and time keeping.
• Keep customer appointments.
• Maintain minimum acceptable metrics with Repeats, Productivity, and Completions.

• Smartphone and Laptop (With Microsoft Excel) are required.
• Lift up to 80lbs unassisted.
• Effective communication skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Must pass background check, MVR screen, and drug test.
• Must be accountable and dependable.
• Must have the ability to work overtime and on weekends depending on the needs of the customer.
• Have an ability to take input from customers, supervisors, leads and co-workers to problem solve and improve skills.

Compensation

We are looking for the best of the best for this long-term project. The pay is production based. Rates will be provided upon resume submission.
