Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Elkhart, IN is seeking a Fiber Construction Technician to support underground and aerial fiber installation for Surf Internet projects. The role involves constructing conduit and fiber, loading materials, and ensuring safety on site.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel. You will operate drilling equipment, assist with HDPE pipe fusion, and help with site cleanup and project duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience operating a directional drill is preferred.
• Education in Utilities Construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on small horizontal directional drilling projects.
• Prepare a worksite to locate utilities and eliminate possible hazards.
• Load, unload and transport construction materials and tools.
• Hand dig to clear debris for an operator.
• Check utilities and clearances.
• Safely and efficiently operate tools and equipment based on job requirements, including locating utilities.
• Fuse and prepare HDPE pipe, assemble fittings and parts to specifications.
• Assist with drilling fluid mixing and clean-up.
• Assist with job site clean-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Location: Elkhart Office - Elkhart, IN 46516, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $27.00 - $35.00 Hourly, Travel Percentage: Road Warrior, Overview: The Fiber Construction team is responsible for the underground and/or aerial construction of conduit and fiber for Surf Internet fiber broadband projects. The Fiber Construction Technician will assume a number of different responsibilities as described below in the execution of each new fiber project.

Reports to: Fiber Construction/Splicing Manager

Job Status: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

• Work on small horizontal directional drilling projects.
• Prepare a worksite to locate utilities and eliminate possible hazards.

• Must be able to bend, kneel, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs. regularly.
• Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
