Job description

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Technologist, Radiology - PD.

In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a radiologist, operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Operates radiology equipment to produce quality images as ordered and according to department protocols. Produces quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
• Prepares patients for exams using proper positioning and immobilization, and provides proper instructions throughout.
• Practices effective radiation protection, utilizing appropriate shielding devices when possible. Monitors exposure and follows department policy regarding pregnant patients.
• Utilizes the PACS system properly and timely, allowing for Radiologist interpretation. Verifies all images are transferred to PACS promptly.
• Accurately uses the Radiology Information System, verifies proper exam completion, correct contrast usage, and correct coding. Completes procedures efficiently.
• Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, adhering to infection control policies. Maintains a proper environment of care and initiates Standard Precautions when required.
• Instructs and supervises Radiography students during clinical practicum, assisting in completing exams and performing QA image reviews with students.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. Technical Diploma or graduation from an AMA-approved Radiology or Imaging Services program required. Current New York State Radiologic Technician license or a new graduate with a temporary permit required. Must become registered before the expiration of the temporary permit. ARRT registration required within 6 months of hire. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills required. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required. Thorough knowledge of radiography equipment required.

Required Licenses:

• Radiologic Tech - Temp Permit
• Radiologic Tech License - NYS
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of radiologic technology experience preferred.

Qualified candidates must communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
