Job summary

Lowe’s distribution center is seeking a Night Shift Supervisor to oversee safety, workflow, and team performance. You will drive efficient operations, monitor inventory, and coordinate across shifts to maintain safety and productivity.

The role requires a solid safety record, leadership experience, and the ability to partner with HR for hiring and coaching. On-site work in Frostproof, FL is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 4 years of distribution center/warehouse operations experience.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Proven record of complying with safety requirements.
  • Experience building a culture of safety among subordinates and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety practices through regular observations and safety discussions.
  • Set daily workload for department per facility guidelines.
  • Monitor inventory flow and expedite priority product shipments.
  • Identify safety issues and coordinate resolutions with relevant parties.
  • Lead shift briefings and turnover documentation.
  • Coach associates and pursue productivity improvements.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding of new staff.
  • Respond to incidents and ensure first aid when needed.
  • Collaborate across shifts to align processes.

Job description

Schedule: Night shift

Responsibilities
  • Ensures all associates comprehend and execute safe work practices by performing regular safety observations and having regular safety discussions
  • Identifies and resolves safety issues on the floor and notifies the appropriate party for resolution
  • Addresses safety issues or trends escalated from associates
  • Determines the daily workload (production volume) for department as established by the facility
  • Monitors the flow of inventory in the facility frequently throughout the day
  • Expedites receiving, picking and shipping of priority product to internal and external customers
  • Researches and resolves pick and ship reported errors and initiates efforts to prevent reoccurrence by addressing the root cause
  • Trains associates on equipment, documents proficiency, and directs resolution to equipment issues
  • Completes all incident reports for in-house product damage, near misses and injuries, and equipment incidents, completing accident reports for associate injuries
  • Identifies and assists in implementing process improvements or new processes launched from SSC
  • Identifies and takes action on needs for efficient operations, safety issues, and bottlenecks
  • Monitors staffing needs for department/shift and adjusts work to be accomplished on the shift according to available resources and skillsets
  • Conducts shift briefing and prepares shift turnover documentation
  • Communicates effectively with associates regarding business objectives or current issues
  • Monitors individual and team productivity and drives continuous productivity improvement through process enhancements and one-on-one coaching
  • Approves off‑standard hours for associates ensuring accurate accounting of performance for the work team
  • Sets goals and communicates clear expectations for associates, providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Provides associates with meaningful developmental opportunities and prepares them for upward promotion as applicable
  • Works with associates to build a work environment of engagement and inclusion
  • Participates in the process of hiring talented individuals for the team, submitting requisitions, interviewing, and assisting HR in the hiring process
  • Trains new hires and existing employees on processes and procedures as applicable
  • Discusses and resolves conflicts between associates
  • Sponsors and leads associates through change
  • Responds to incidents or injuries and ensures first aid response takes place as needed
  • Collaborates with the other operational shifts to ensure consistent processes and expectations
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field OR 4 years of experience in distribution center/warehouse operations or related area
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills
  • Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven record of complying with safety requirements
  • Experience building a culture of safety among subordinates and peers
Preferences
  • Leadership experience with direct report responsibility
  • Experience mentoring and coaching others
  • Experience monitoring the work of others to ensure quality
  • Experience managing resources, time, and budgets
  • Experience working with and communicating to leadership at all levels of the organization
  • Previous leadership roles in other Lowe’s supply chain facilities, or leadership roles in Corporate-led initiatives
  • Experience with software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or a Warehouse Management System
  • Bi-lingual skills, if applicable to the facility
