Job summary

Bluestem Biosciences is seeking a detail-oriented Fermentation Technician to join our production team at the demo plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will oversee preparation, operation, and day-to-day control of the facility’s fermentation systems.

You will monitor equipment, take samples, make real-time adjustments, and analyze data to drive process improvements. The role supports commissioning and the transition to full-scale production, with on-site, shift-based work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in biochemical or specialty chemical manufacturing.
• Experience in demo plants, labs, or startups preferred.
• Hands-on operation of fermentation systems.
• Ability to communicate findings to leadership.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time on a shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, operate, and maintain fermentation systems for the demo plant.
• Monitor production and testing equipment, adjust in real time.
• Run lab equipment for process monitoring and quality control.
• Collect samples and implement data-driven process changes.
• Support commissioning and transition to full-scale operation.
• Ensure safety protocols and SOP compliance.
• Collaborate with Plant Operators and foreman to optimize runs.
