Job summary

Locus Fermentation Solutions is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform daily laboratory testing and analytical activities to support manufacturing operations. You will test raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure specifications are met, while maintaining records and supporting cross-functional teams.

The role involves aseptic techniques, equipment calibration, and collaboration with Production, Quality, and R&D.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Science or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of laboratory experience in manufacturing, industrial microbiology, biotech, food science, or related environment.
• Experience with laboratory analytical instrumentation including UV, NIR, HPLC, GC, Ion Chromatography, or similar equipment.
• Working knowledge of industrial microbial cell culture, fermentation processes, and media preparation.
• Familiarity with GMPs and food safety programs (SQF, FSMA, HACCP, HARPC).
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine lab testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, fermentation samples, and finished products.
• Collect, prepare, and analyze production samples to meet turnaround times.
• Conduct analytical testing using UV, NIR, HPLC, GC, and related instruments.
• Perform microbiological testing including culture development, maintenance, and media prep.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and calibrate equipment.
• Communicate results to Production and Quality teams promptly.
• Support fermentation and downstream manufacturing with routine sampling and data reporting.
• Assist with troubleshooting and investigation of process or product quality concerns.
• Follow SOPs and contribute to test method development and validation.
