Perdue Foods in Maryland is seeking a Feed Quality and Operational Excellence Technician to drive quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across our feed manufacturing operations.

You will monitor production metrics, ensure regulatory and company standards, and collaborate with feed mill teams, nutritionists, veterinarians, and lab partners to deliver safe, high-quality feed while optimizing efficiency.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate feed quality parameters such as particle size, pellet durability, fines, moisture, and ingredient quality.
  • Identify and implement improvements to meet or exceed feed quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA and cGMP/PVP policies.
  • Develop proficiency in receiving, batching, pelleting, and loadout operations.
  • Support 5S/6S and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to communicate expectations and resolve issues.
  • Maintain documentation, reporting, and audit readiness for quality programs.
  • Participate in daily operations to support safe, efficient production.

Summary

Drive quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across our feed manufacturing operations. As a Feed Quality and Operational Excellence Technician, you will play a critical role in monitoring production metrics, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards, and identifying opportunities to enhance performance. You will collaborate cross-functionally with feed mill teams, nutritionists, veterinarians, and laboratory partners to deliver safe, high-quality feed while optimizing efficiency across the operation. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, data-driven professional who is passionate about quality, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is motivated to make a measurable impact on operational excellence.

This position has a target wage of $23.00 - $34.25 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 6:00am - 3:00pm

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor and evaluate feed manufacturing quality parameters, including particle size, pellet durability (PDI), fines, moisture levels, and ingredient quality.
  • Identify and implement improvements to ensure products meet or exceed feed quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA, USDA, FSMA, and company policies such as cGMPs and PVP programs.
  • Develop proficiency in all feed mill operations, including receiving, batching, pelleting, and loadout processes.
  • Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S/6S methodologies and operational efficiency efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to communicate quality expectations, resolve issues, and drive consistent results.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and audit readiness for quality and compliance programs.
  • Participate in daily operations as needed to support safe and efficient production.
Minimum Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong reading, writing, math, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across all levels.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Prior experience in quality assurance, feed mill operations, or continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs, PVP programs, and food/feed safety regulations.
  • Experience with 5S/6S methodologies.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain certifications post-hire, including: Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCQI)Preventive Controls for Animal Feed (PCAF)Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) training.
Physical Requirements And Environmental Factors
  • Work is performed in both office and feed mill environments.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and typical mill conditions.
  • Requires frequent movement throughout the facility, including walking, climbing, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
