Job summary

Ag Plus in northeast Indiana seeks a Feed Mill Worker to operate machinery and equipment for processing, weighing and preparing animal feed. You will monitor production, maintain safety standards, and assist with daily inventory and distribution tasks in a local cooperative setting.

As part of a century-old farming community, you’ll contribute to reliable feed production across multiple divisions, including agronomy, energy, feed, grain and turf.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the feed mill operator by preparing all hand-added ingredients mixed in manufactured feed daily.
  • Help with manufacturing and stacking feeds for floor stock.
  • Be able to operate the mill entirely if feed mill operator is absent (mixer, legs, sacker, forklift, feed delivery truck).
  • Follow ration sheets and figure percentages in mixtures as well as animal health product levels daily.
  • Keep daily feed run sheets and batch mix sheets for all feed manufactured.
  • Keep feed mill and storage facilities clean and in proper operating condition.
  • Assist in monthly and annual inventory records.
  • Load customers out from the dock and communicate and handle problems professionally and courteously to ensure excellent customer service.

Summary

Feed Mill Workers are responsible for operating machinery and equipment used to process, mix, and prepare animal feed within the mill for manufacturing. This often includes weighing and measuring a variety of ingredients, monitoring production processes, and ensuring that finished feed products meet quality and safety standards. This role is essential to the agriculture and livestock industries to ensure that animals receive the appropriate nutrition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist the feed mill operator by preparing all hand added ingredients which are mixed in manufactured feed daily.
  • Help with manufacturing and stacking feeds for floor stock.
  • Be able to operate the mill entirely if feed mill operator is absent (mixer, legs, sacker, forklift and feed delivery truck) daily.
  • Be able to follow ration sheets and figure percentages in mixtures as well as animal health product levels daily.
  • Keep daily feed run sheets and batch mix sheets for all feed manufactured.
  • Keep feed mill and storage facilities clean and in proper operating condition.
  • Assist in monthly and annual inventory records.
  • Load customers out from the dock and be able to communicate and handle problems professionally and courteously to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Unload packaged material from the receiving dock and follow the receiving process determined by Synergy Feeds, LLC.
  • Assist with maintenance of feed mill and related feed mill equipment.
  • Continuously follows the safety guidelines and safety programs established by Synergy Feeds, LLC.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience
