Job summary

The Georgia Department of Agriculture – Feed & Fertilizer Laboratory in Tifton, GA is seeking an entry-level Chemical/Material Analyst I to prepare and analyze feed and fertilizer samples and support routine laboratory testing.

Under supervision, you will perform standard analyses, record data, and assist with instrument calibration while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. A bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in a laboratory environment and use of pipettes.
• Familiarity with instrumental analysis including protein, fat and fiber analysis, HPLC, UV/Colorimetric or ICP spectrophotometry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze feed and fertilizer samples in the Tifton Feed and Fertilizer Laboratory.
• Perform standard tests and analysis on raw, natural, and processed matrices using prescribed chemical and physical laboratory procedures to determine quantitatively the concentration of chemicals and compliance with legal standards.
• Enter laboratory test data into laboratory information systems.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, calibrate instruments, and assist with sample preparations.
