Job summary
The Maryland Office of the State Prosecutor is recruiting multiple applicants to serve as Assistant State Prosecutors cross-designated to work full-time as Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) in the USAO for the District of Maryland, in either Baltimore or Greenbelt. These contracts support federal prosecutions of gun, gang, narcotics and violent crimes across the state.
Ideal candidates will hold a J.D., be admitted to the Maryland bar, and have at least one year of litigation
Qualifications
- J.D. required and Maryland bar admission, with at least one year of litigation experience.
- Strong abilities to build relationships with victims, witnesses, and law enforcement.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversee investigation and prosecution of firearms, narcotics and violent crimes in federal court.
- Participate in investigation and prosecution, including grand jury, pretrial and trial practice.
- Collaborate with USAO project groups and project safe neighborhoods as a legal advisor.
- Work in federal and/or state jurisdictions as cases are identified for prosecution.
