Job summary

Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Criminal Division handle prosecutions of federal and territorial offenses, including immigration, drugs, firearms, and white-collar crimes. Candidates must have a J.D.

degree and be an active member of the bar, with residency in the district or within 25 miles. Preferred candidates show strong academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to work in a professional, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).
• Includes residency within the district or 25 miles thereof; Selective Service registration if applicable.
• Strong academic credentials and research/writing abilities are preferred.
• Potential for complex assignments and trial work as training progresses.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute a broad range of federal and territorial offenses (immigration, drugs, firearms, etc.).
• Handle investigations and case preparation from charging through trial.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and client agencies to advance cases.
