Required: U.S.

citizenship or national status, a J.D. degree and bar admission, at least 3 years of post–J.D.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship or national status.
  • J.D. degree and active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least 3 years of post–J.D. legal or other relevant experience.
  • Preemployment adjudication including fingerprint, credit, tax checks, and drug testing; continued employment contingent on a favorable background investigation.
  • Selective Service registration if applicable.
  • Residence within the district or within 25 miles of the district.

Responsibilities

  • Prosecute a wide variety of federal crimes, including breaches of national security, child exploitation, human trafficking, fraud, narcotics trafficking, firearm offenses, transnational organized crime, and violent crime.
  • Represent the United States in the investigation and prosecution of cases involving violent crime, illegal immigration, and drug trafficking, especially those committed by cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
  • Assignments and responsibilities will increase in complexity as training and experience progress.
