Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Federal Project Manager to lead design projects for US government/military clients from our Honolulu, HI office. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams on large and mid-sized projects for agencies including USACE, MDA, and NAVFAC.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in project management support within AE/CE, a PE or PMP, and the ability to work on-site in Hawaii. Citizenship is required for client compliance.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in a project management support role within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Federal design projects for clients to include MDA, USACE, NAVFAC.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • PE or PMP required.
  • Ability to work in person (not remotely) in one of WSP’s offices.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Leads teams in the development of project design packages, including defining scope, establishing schedules, setting milestones, and identifying resource requirements under the guidance of senior project managers.
  • Coordinates daily project activities with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and align with project objectives.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking key performance indicators, identifying potential risks or delays, and reporting findings to senior team members.
  • Supports the management of project budgets by assisting in tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Prepares and maintains project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, risk assessments, change orders, and project closeout reports.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an experienced Federal Project Manager for our Honolulu, HI office with demonstrated experience in engineering and design project leadership and project execution for the US government/military sector. The successful candidate will lead design projects on behalf of Federal clients - both large project and mid-sized, multidiscipline engineering projects concurrently where a branch of the Department of Defense is the client, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Navy Facilities Command (NAVFAC) in particular.

Strong discipline-specific knowledge of power sector and electrical design projects is required.
  • Coordinates daily project activities by working closely with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and align with project objectives.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking key performance indicators, identifying potential risks or delays, and reporting findings to senior team members.
  • Supports the management of project budgets by assisting in tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.

Who You Are
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in a project management support role within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Federal design projects for clients to include MDA, USACE, NAVFAC.
  • Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • PE or PMP required.
  • Ability to work in person (not remotely) in one of WSP’s offices. Work from home is discouraged and subject to WSP policies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and demonstrated experience with typical design/engineering software packages related to drafting, modeling, analysis, design, markup, or cost engineering strongly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $134,700 - $163,700

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
