Zusammenfassung

American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is seeking a seasoned policy advocate to advance industry public policy in Washington, DC. You will build alliances, represent AF&PA to external audiences, and develop educational opportunities for legislators and their staff.

The role requires deep federal legislative knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to ethical advocacy in a hybrid DC office environment.

Qualifikationen

• Five or more years of experience on Capitol Hill, government affairs, or lobbying environments.
• Knowledge of the federal legislative process.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical and research skills.
• Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and collaboration.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Understanding of environment/energy/forest products industry is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Develop, coordinate and implement advocacy strategies to achieve industry policy positions.
• Analyze, report on, and respond to legislative and regulatory initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with congressional members and staff.
• Represent AF&PA to outside audiences and coalitions.
• Develop educational opportunities for federal legislators and staff.
• Write letters, testimony and member communications.
• Manage policy committees, budgets and meetings.
• Coordinate with coalitions on federal legislative goals.
• Ensure actions comply with lobbying regulations as a registered federal lobbyist.
