Job summary

Marathon TS is seeking a Technical Writer for a DHS CBP contract. The role requires developing, reviewing, and maintaining IT policies and related documentation in collaboration with IT, cybersecurity, compliance, and government stakeholders.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of technical writing experience, and an active Client security clearance. Proficiency with Word/SharePoint and strong editorial skills are essential for policy governance and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional technical writing, policy development, documentation, or related experience.
  • Experience developing, revising, or maintaining IT policies, procedures, standards, or technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of IT terminology, information security concepts, and federal IT environments.
  • Active Client security clearance or ability to maintain the required Client clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Review and update existing Client IT policies, procedures, standards, and guidance to reflect current technology, security requirements, and organizational needs.
  • Develop clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for IT and cybersecurity programs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, IT personnel, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders to gather and validate technical and policy information.
  • Translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into clear, understandable policy language.
  • Research applicable federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidance to support policy development and updates.
  • Ensure IT policy documentation aligns with applicable Client, federal, cybersecurity, information security, and privacy requirements.
  • Conduct editorial and quality-control reviews to ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, organization, and policy structure.
  • Track document revisions, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and maintain version control throughout the policy lifecycle.
  • Prepare policy drafts, briefing materials, executive summaries, procedures, and supporting documentation for government review and approval.
  • Assist with identifying gaps, outdated requirements, and areas for improvement within existing IT policy documentation.
  • Maintain documentation repositories and ensure approved policies and supporting materials are properly organized and accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Support policy governance activities, including review cycles, approvals, revisions, and publication.
  • Handle sensitive government information in accordance with applicable Client security and information-handling requirements.
