Job summary

Procon Consulting is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support federal government construction projects across the United States. You will develop detailed cost estimates for new construction, renovations, and modernization projects for federal agencies, collaborating with PMs, engineers, architects, and government stakeholders.

This role requires a strong background in federal construction estimating and a team-oriented owner's representative/consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional electrical estimating experience on commercial, institutional, or federal projects.
• Experience preparing electrical estimates for vertical building construction projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecom, and low-voltage.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office Suite.
• Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual, design, and construction cost estimates for federal building projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs.
• Develop independent government estimates (IGEs) and support budget planning activities.
• Analyze contractor bids, change orders, and cost proposals for reasonableness.
• Utilize industry estimating databases such as RSMeans and other estimating software.
• Prepare cost reports, estimate narratives, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and government clients throughout project development.
• Identify cost risks, escalation factors, and value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal construction standards, procurement practices, and market pricing.
