Job summary

Good-Men Roofing & Construction, Inc. in San Diego is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator (Federal Construction) to lead DoD MACC, IDIQ, and design-build estimating efforts for federal renovation, repair, alteration, and new construction projects.

The ideal candidate will interpret plans, perform quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and develop competitive federal proposals with NAVFAC/USACE experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience with a general contractor, including design-build and federal projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, wage determinations, and solicitation requirements.
• Experience with federal construction procurement (DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, MACC/IDIQ).
• Proficiency with takeoffs, subcontractor pricing, and risk-based estimating.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field; estimating certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review DoD MACC task-order requests, RFPs, drawings, specs, scopes of work, wage determinations, and contract clauses.
• Prepare compliant bid/no-bid assessments, checklists, WBS, quantity takeoffs, labor/equipment analyses, and contingencies.
• Develop and update estimates as designs progress, reconciling scope and cost with budgets.
• Solicit and document subcontractor quotations; identify scope gaps and buyout risks.
• Attend site visits to assess access, logistics, and installation-specific cost impacts.
• Develop proposal pricing narratives, cost breakdowns, schedules of values, and supporting data.
• Identify estimating risks and support negotiations with defensible cost data.
• Lead post-award estimate turnover and maintain auditable estimate records.
