Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. seeks a Federal Cx Senior Field Agent to lead commissioning of complex facility projects, primarily electrical systems, for a federal client with Germany assignments.

You will perform hands-on field testing, project coordination, and mentorship of Cx team members to ensure systems meet design intent and owner expectations throughout design, construction, and turnover. Travel to Germany will be required.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of commissioning experience; healthcare facility experience is beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with five years of applicable experience.
  • Must hold or obtain a Commissioning Authority (CxA) certification within 3 months.
  • Willing to apply for work VISA and residency permit with company support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities to verify electrical systems operate as intended through design, construction, turnover.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for design intent and testing objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct inspections, checklists, testing, and warranty reviews.
  • Validate training plans and documentation from contractors and project teams.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, deficiency lists, and project records.
  • Serve as primary liaison between contractors, owners, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare progress reports and communicate risks and resolutions.
  • Manage commissioning schedules, staffing, and on-site execution during construction.
  • Participate in client meetings and internal planning sessions.
  • Perform retro-commissioning and diagnostic investigations as required.
  • Train, mentor, and support development of Cx Field Agents.

Role Summary

SSR is seeking a Federal Cx Senior Field Agent to lead commissioning efforts for complex facility projects, primarily focused on electrical systems. This role combines hands-on field commissioning, project management, client coordination, and mentorship of commissioning team members to ensure systems perform as designed and meet owner expectations.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead commissioning activities to verify building electrical systems operate as intended throughout design, construction, and turnover.
  • Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design intent, owner requirements, and functional testing objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct inspections, pre-functional checklists, functional performance testing, seasonal testing, and warranty reviews.
  • Validate training plans and documentation prepared by contractors and project teams.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, deficiency lists, maintenance documentation, and project records.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between contractors, owners, and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare progress reports and communicate project status, risks, and resolutions.
  • Manage commissioning schedules, staffing requirements, and project execution during construction phases.
  • Participate in client meetings and internal commissioning team planning sessions.
  • Perform retro-commissioning and diagnostic investigations when required.
  • Train, mentor, and support the development of Cx Field Agents.
Minimum Requirements
Who We’re Looking For
  • Ten or more years of applicable experience in commissioning projects; healthcare facility experience is highly beneficial OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with five years of applicable experience
  • Must either hold a current Commissioning Authority (CxA) Certification or obtain it within the first three months of employment.
  • Will be expected to apply and maintain a work VISA, and residency permit with company support
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of normal power and emergency power systems, life safety, lighting controls, and commissioning methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting engineering design documents and construction specifications.
  • Project management experience on federal, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and lead field activities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including long-term full-time assignments in Germany.
