Job description

The Department of Justice represents the United States in legal disputes, litigates civil actions, and upholds the rule of law. Our mission is to safeguard the public interest and federal programs through civil enforcement, including protecting civil rights, defending federal agencies, recovering funds lost to fraud, ensuring environmental protection, and upholding antitrust laws. The Department of Justice represents the United States in all other criminal and non-criminal legal proceedings.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.

United States citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Hiring preferences include strong academic records, outstanding organizational skills, superior exceptional legal writing and research skills, demonstrated analytical ability, good judgment and excellent courtroom skills, and a commitment to professionalism, ethics, civility, and public service.

The ideal candidate will have three or more years of post-J.D. experience litigating cases with substantial responsibility for all aspects of discovery and trial.
