Job summary

The Eastern District of California seeks Assistant U.S. Attorneys to join the Civil Division, Defense Litigation Unit in the Sacramento or Fresno offices. Successful candidates will work with a team of attorneys and staff across offices and will handle civil matters in federal court.

Qualified applicants will have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar, U.S. citizenship, and at least one year of post-J.D.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active bar admission in good standing.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• 1 year post-J.D. legal or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Litigate civil cases in federal court and manage discovery, trials and appeals.
• Perform legal research and drafting of pleadings and memoranda.
• Prepare day-to-day correspondence and pleadings with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, investigators and support staff.
