Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) seeks a senior engineering consultant for its Nuclear unit. Remote work option available with office locations in San Jose, CA; Centennial, CO; or Huntersville, NC.

The role focuses on mechanics/structural engineering, finite element modeling, fatigue and fracture mechanics, and related fields. The ideal candidate will lead the FEA team, perform advanced analyses, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver robust engineering solutions

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• 8+ years (with MS) or 10+ years (with BS) of related engineering experience.
• Advanced finite element analysis of nuclear components.

Responsibilities

• Stress analysis of power plant structures and components using classical and numerical methods.
• Perform and lead finite element analyses per ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
• Support and lead the FEA team across projects.
• Contribute to fatigue management programs for components.
• Participate in design and repair projects for pressure vessel/piping components.
• Communicate results and analyses to clients and teams.

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is seeking a senior level engineering consultant to join our Nuclear business unit. The position can be based remotely or in one of our main offices: San Jose, CA; Centennial, CO; or Huntersville, NC.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in mechanics/structural engineering and be responsible for engineering consulting work supporting the energy industry. The role will be to support project teams in the areas of finite element modeling, stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics and related fields.

The work environment is a dynamic team based on project requirements. Each project team is usually led by an industry expert and composed of engineers from various engineering disciplines such as stress analysis, fracture mechanics, structural dynamics, and material science.

Primary Responsibilities

• Stress analysis of power plant structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment and other power plant components using both classical and numerical methods
• Stress analyses using the guidelines in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
• Supporting and leading the finite element analysis team
• Support fatigue management programs for various components
• Participation in design and repair projects of pressure vessel/piping components
• Communication with clients to provide engineering solutions, results, and analyses
• Participate in client, vendor, and internal team meetings

Required Skills/Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
• 8+years (with MS) or 10+ years (with BS) of related engineering experience
• Advanced finite element analysis of vessel, piping, valves and other nuclear components
• Experience with mechanical, thermal, and modal analyses, and non-linear metallic material models
• Advanced skills in ANSYS APDL/Workbench (ABAQUS is a plus)
• Assist and lead in maintaining company standards related to finite element analysis
• Proficiency in ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section III and Section XI)
• Proficiency in writing technical reports and communication skills

Desired Skills/Qualifications

• PE License
• Experience in writing scripts and subroutines for finite element codes (e.g., python)
• Experience in computational fracture mechanics
• Experience in CFD simulations in ANSYS
• Project management skills

Pay Range: The expected salary range for this role is $108,000 to $135,000 in Charlotte, NC; $115,520 to $144,400 in Denver, CO; and $136,800 to $171,000 in San Jose, CA. Exact pay will be commensurate with experience and location.
