Job Description
A Glimpse of the Job
The Finance & Business Services Director (not ORP-eligible), under general direction, maintains responsibility for the management and direction of a specific function or unit.
Essential Duties
Leadership
- Develops strategic plan for unit
- Serves on departmental leadership team
- Directs unit staff, setting performance standards and accountabilities
- Ensures that programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations
- Provides input and guidance into the budget and fiscal operations of the unit
- Develops and seeks funding for programs to promote unit mission
- Oversees communications, promotions, and public relations for units
- Develops and implements unit programs
- Serves on various University, division, and departmental committees and represents the department at various State and National associations
Department Specific
- Serve as the Budget Office representative on campus committees, including the Facilities/Construction Committee
- Collaborate with assigned departments on financial management, budgeting, and related business processes
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, SBC reports, and other data management tools to support departmental operations and decision-making
- Compile, analyze, and present financial and operational data to leadership, councils, committees, and other stakeholder groups
- Prepare ad hoc reports and respond to data requests, including support for special projects and open records requests
- Partner with Budget Office leadership and fellow directors to develop, update, and maintain campus-wide training materials
- Serve as a resource for new employees by providing guidance, knowledge transfer, and onboarding support
- Create, maintain, and expand documentation, procedures, and reference materials related to Budget Office functions and responsibilities

Salary : Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ten years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating campus-wide training initiatives, developing instructional materials, and presenting information to large audiences
- Knowledge of higher education budgeting, financial planning, and institutional reporting practices
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with academic, administrative, and auxiliary units
- Demonstrated experience developing executive-level dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support strategic decision-making
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Other Requirements
