Job summary

Harlem Children’s Zone seeks an enthusiastic part-time Activity Specialist to lead after-school arts programming in K-12 settings. You’ll design engaging projects, facilitate weekly lessons, and help youth develop through creative exploration and academic integration.

The role emphasizes planning, collaboration with staff, and delivering age-appropriate projects that foster critical thinking, creativity, and character growth, within HCZ’s mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred).
• 1+ years of teaching experience.
• Experience with arts education is preferred.
• Conservatory training and/or university-level education in the content area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare age- and skill-appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activities, and projects.
• Plan and facilitate a project-based unit, and attend weekly meetings.
• Work with participants to develop artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
• Engage youth in critical thinking, collaboration, and hands-on learning through the arts.
• Coordinate trips, guest speakers, events, exhibitions and college visits.
