Jentzsch Kearl Farms in Southern Idaho seeks a results-oriented Farm Manager to lead field operations, including planting, irrigation, and harvest, with a focus on maximizing yield and quality. You will supervise crews, manage budgets, and work closely with agronomists to optimize crop health and resource use.

This onsite role requires 3–5 years of row crop and irrigation experience, plus 3+ years of farming knowledge.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years row crop experience, preferably in potatoes.
• 3–5 years irrigation experience, especially pivot systems.
• At least 3 years farming experience.
• Leadership experience in the crop industry preferred.
• Able to work long hours during planting and harvest, onsite relocation to Glenns Ferry ID.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of annual field, crop, and unit budgets.
• Manage crop production for yield and quality across listed crops.
• Supervise irrigation crews and ensure timely water applications.
• Form pre-season plans for each field; monitor yield and costs for efficiency.

Job Overview

The Farm Manager will be responsible for producing a successful crop while maximizing yield and quality. This role involves planning and supervising planting and harvest activities, irrigation, monitoring crop health, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.

About Us

Jentzsch Kearl Farms is a diverse, row-crop farm located throughout seven counties in Southern Idaho. We are a true family-owned and family-operated organization. Our humble beginning started in 1981 and has grown to over 40,000 acres of potatoes, sugar beets, hay, corn, watermelon, squash, and pumpkins. We strive to produce the finest of crops – on time and done right.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in development of annual field, crop, and unit input budgets.
• Manage crop production for best possible yield and quality. This may include the following crops: alfalfa, beans, sugar beets, potatoes, corn, squash, watermelon, and pumpkins.
• Manage, maintain, and improve the lands farmed for the greatest possible productivity and sustainable husbandry.
• Manage and work with your irrigation crew to ensure that the irrigation systems are providing timely and even applications of water to the crops.
• Help formulate pre-season plans for all activities and applications for each individual field.
• Continually evaluate yield, quality, and production costs for efficiencies and improvements that will maximize crop revenues.
• Supervise and be accountable for the planting of each crop in each field. If crops do not start right, they cannot end right.
• Continuously, in conjunction with agronomists, scout crops for water requirements, fertility, pests, and weeds and take appropriate action to meet yield and quality goals.
• Record all crop inputs and applications.
• Work closely with landowners to inform them of any process that may affect them.
• Coordinate with the Director of Field Operations for all actions involving farm equipment. This includes use of controlling calendars for all field operations.
• Attend and participate in all assigned management and other meetings.
• Speak up when something does not seem to be right or is not in alignment with stated company objectives and goals.
• Must not be shy of computers and technology. These will be used extensively.
• Other projects and duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Must have 3-5 years row crop experience (preferably in potato industry)
• Must have 3-5 years of irrigation (especially pivot systems)
• Must have at least 3 years of farming experience.
• Preferably has leadership experience in the crop industry.
• Must be able to work long hours during planting and harvest
• Preferably speaks Spanish
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to work onsite in the Glenns Ferry, ID area (Relocate before starting work)

Pay

$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
