Job summary

H2ajobs in California is seeking a farm laborer to plant and harvest a variety of crops including strawberries, lettuce, romaine, and spinach. You will operate tractors, planters, forklifts, and other equipment, work outdoors in open fields, and handle loading pallets and materials as needed.

Employer-provided housing and meals are described; meals may be provided if kitchen access is unavailable, with possible deductions.

Job description

Wash and sanitize agricultural equipment harvest machines, any kind of vehicles and yards and cooler. Yard load and unload product pallets, materials using forklift, load the cooling tube for cooling tube for cooling purposes. Planting all varieties of baby leaf spinach, romaine and any other vegetable, using tractor, planter machine and vehicles.

Crops: Strawberries , lettuce, romaine lettuce, green and red leaf, Frise, baby spinach, baby green and red spring mix, multi-leaf, kale, arugula, mizuna

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Workers occupying employer-provided housing in which full kitchen facilities are available will be responsible for preparing their own meals. Workers will purchase food at their own expense and prepare their own meals. Kitchen and eating facilities will be shared with other workers occupying the Company-provided housing facilities. Employer will provide workers with cooking and eating utensils. No kitchen facilities or meals are provided to workers not occupying Company-provided housing. The employer will facilitate transportation to local grocery stores once per week.

If kitchen facilities become unavailable, employer will provide 3 meals a day and deduct $16.78 per day from workers’ pay (or higher is a higher meal deduction is approved or if Department of Labor adjusts the meal deduction to a higher rate during the contract period.

Transport: The following provisions pertaining to provision or reimbursement for inbound and return transportation and subsistence apply only to persons recruited from outside normal commuting distance.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Minimum Job Qualifications: 3 months planting experience with any of the crops listed above. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently. Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal outdoor grove environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described.
