Job summary

Aviagen Turkeys, Inc. is seeking a dependable Clean-Out Crew Associate to maintain clean, safe, and biosecure poultry houses. This hands-on role works with a team to clean and sanitize houses and equipment, assist operators, and prepare facilities for ongoing operations.

The position suits someone who enjoys active work and takes pride in thoroughly completing tasks. You may transport crew members to job sites and support other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license and willingness to transport crew members to job sites.
• Dependable and responsible with safety and attendance.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including SOPs and WIs.
• Willingness to work with cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
• Ability to safely assist with disassembly, movement, and setup of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all sanitation, biosecurity, safety, and animal-welfare practices.
• Follow SOPs and Work Instructions (WIs).
• Perform general labor and assist equipment operators during poultry-house clean-out activities.
• Empty feeders and remove litter, debris, and other materials.
• Scrape and clean concrete floors.
• Raise, lower, remove, disassemble, and reinstall poultry-house equipment.
• Open and close poultry-house end doors as required.
• Use approved detergents and disinfectants to clean surfaces and equipment.
• Handle and interact with live poultry when required.
• Drive company vehicles and transport crew members to job sites.
• Keep work areas, tools, vehicles, and equipment clean and orderly.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The Clean-Out Crew Associate works as part of a team to clean and sanitize poultry houses and equipment, assist equipment operators, and prepare facilities for continued operation.

The Clean-Out Crew Associate works as part of a team to clean and sanitize poultry houses and equipment, assist equipment operators, and prepare facilities for continued operation.

This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys active work, takes pride in completing a job thoroughly, and works well both independently and with a team. The associate may also transport crew members to job sites as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow all company sanitation, biosecurity, safety, and animal-welfare practices.
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
• Perform general labor and assist equipment operators during poultry-house clean-out activities.
• Empty feeders and remove litter, debris, and other materials from poultry houses.
• Scrape and clean concrete floors.
• Raise, lower, remove, disassemble, and reinstall poultry-house equipment as needed.
• Open and close poultry-house end doors as required.
• Use approved detergents, disinfectants, and other designated chemicals to clean and sanitize floors, walls, slats, machinery, and equipment.
• Handle and interact with live poultry when required.
• Drive company vehicles and transport crew members to job sites as assigned.
• Keep assigned work areas, tools, vehicles, and equipment clean and orderly.
• Assist other departments or work locations based on operational needs.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Are Looking For

• Poultry, agricultural, equipment, or chemical-handling experience is helpful but not required.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for completing assigned work.

Schedule Requirements

• Ability to routinely work up to six days per week based on operational needs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods, including six hours or more during a shift.
• Frequently bend, stoop, grip, grasp, and twist using the hands and wrists.
• Repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, damp, wet, dry, and dusty conditions.
• Work around poultry, farm-related odors, cleaning chemicals, machinery, pests, and wildlife.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
