Job summary

Perdue Farms in Butler, GA is seeking a Farm Associate to support daily flock management and on-site operations. You will work outdoors caring for live chickens, monitor feed and water systems, and help prepare houses for placement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Catch 3 to 4 chickens in each hand.
• Place 20 to 25 chickens per minute in a draw.
• Place chickens into the draw without harming them.
• Place 10 to 12 chickens in each module.
• Assist in pasturebird house construction and other on-site projects.
• Operate power tools and forklifts as needed.
• Follow PPE and safety procedures at all times.

In this role, you’ll support essential farm operations caring for live chickens, preparing houses for placement, ensuring clean and well-maintained environments, monitoring feed and water systems, and assisting with daily flock management. • Ability to use power tools.
• Must be able to operate a fork-lift.
• Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
• Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

When in a plant environment:

• Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• Ability to stand for an extended period and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs by reaching, bending, and pushing boxes.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required.
• May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 28 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May handle products varying in temperatures between 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
• May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
• Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
