Job summary

Langston University is seeking three AIGR Animal Technician positions for the Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. This 12-month, full-time role supports daily animal maintenance, research and extension activities within the AIGR Farms program.

The successful candidates will provide care for goats and farm dogs, assist in breeding and milking activities, and help maintain records and compliance with farm protocols. High School/GED required; salary range $35,000-$40,000.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required, degree must be conferred on or before start date.
• Ability to understand oral and written documentation and communicate effectively in various situations.
• Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
• Able to work with university students.
• Able to operate (or willing to learn to operate) tools, machinery, and equipment common to farming operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide feed and water for goats and farm dogs.
• Cleaning of dairy barn alley, waterers, and Callan gate feeders.
• Provide standard animal management practices.
• Monitor the health and feeding conditions of goats.
• Perform miscellaneous farm duties as assigned by the farm manager.
• Assist in breeding, kidding, and feeding of newborn kids.
• Perform milking and keep a record of daily milk production.
