Job description

What you'll be doing:

Review manufacturing system requirements and design robust robotic software applications, create and document GRS standards for manufacturing requirements.

  1. Interface with other ME departments and regional automation execution teams to gather feedback and document manufacturing requirements with robotic applications.
  2. Interface with Execution teams, equipment suppliers, and manufacturing integration suppliers.
  3. Ensure software/hardware robotic application designs comply with GM Standards.
  4. Supervise detailed designs by contractors when necessary.
  5. Specify software/robotic selection guidance, functional requirements, and integration methods. Example: Flying robots, Vision guided robots, wash robots, Pick and place robots.
  6. Evaluate and validate new software/hardware for use in manufacturing plants.
  7. Provide on-site and remote technical support for: plant software issues, new equipment startup, troubleshooting, reprogramming, diagnostic equipment usage, and interfacing with skilled trades personnel.
  8. Provide training and documentation for global deployment of standard GRS software.
  9. Validation of DCS zones and various other Robot Specifications based on a GM Validation Checklist.
  10. Review of Simulation via Process Simulate.
  11. Educate the regional execution teams.
  12. Provide plant technical support with the development, planning, and strategies for maintaining and replacing obsolete equipment.
  13. Launch manufacturing equipment. Engineers are centered around robots, ensuring suppliers are launching on software standards, tracking any issues, and working with suppliers to go over designs and concepts and validate them on-site. Will have a set of deliverables to follow up and complete a checklist.
  14. Have comfort with Fanuc robots.
  15. Goal is to ensure robots are launched to GM standards.
  16. GRS certification is a huge plus!
  17. Project management capabilities and someone that is a leader and a team player. They must work well with their counterparts and be self-motivated.
  18. Seeking a highly talented robotic manufacturing engineer interested in developing, maintaining, and supporting global machine Robotic applications and standards for manufacturing automation systems for Global Common and Non-Global Common architectures.
What you need for this position:

Minimum of 7 years' experience within robotics engineer role.

  1. Bachelor's in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science is preferred.
  2. Experience with multiple models of FANUC Robotics.
  3. Experience with DCS Validation setup.
  4. Experience with teaching/set up of FANUC robots in FANUC TP language.
  5. Ability to travel 40% within the U.S. on an ad hoc basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. GRS certified.
  2. Roboguide Experience.
  3. Process Simulate Experience.
  4. IR Vision Experience.
  5. Experience with the design, build, and start-up of manufacturing systems.
  6. Experience with design, set up, and debug of automation systems.
