Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a seasoned Mobile Software Dev Engineer 4 to lead the Memories team's architecture, implement native Swift and Kotlin code, and ensure scalable performance across devices. This hybrid Lehi role combines technical leadership with hands-on development in Xcode and Android Studio.

Applicants should have six years of progressive experience, strong Agile knowledge, and a proven ability to mentor peers while delivering high-quality mobile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Six years of progressive relevant professional experience
  • Strong understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies and principles
  • Solid base of learning and some experience in all the primary areas of an n-tier enterprise system that may or may not be web based (e.g., interface domain logic and database layers)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and train peers
  • Exceptional troubleshooter with the ability to solve problems in a timely manner under pressure
  • Strong skills in engineering/programming, analytical/diagnostic/troubleshooting, web technology, and programming methodology
  • Solid understanding of systems and subsystems
  • Familiarity with Cloud Based Platforms and services
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable software, computer languages, and code to perform the responsibilities of this role
  • Proven aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies and programming languages

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment

  • Establish the team's mobile standards for testing, code review, and CI.
  • Mentor engineers who are strong on web and newer to mobile.
  • Partner with UX on platform-appropriate patterns rather than a lowest common denominator.
  • Produce quality mobile applications that are shipped to the App Store and Google Play, including ownership of the release
  • Identify errors in native code you did not write with Fluency with AI tools

Job Description

The Software Development Engineer 4 is a seasoned professional, lead role responsible for developing technical designs and developing and maintaining software source code to support a solution. As an experienced member of a development team, the individual will be expected to solve complex technical issues and programming tasks. The individual may be asked to act as a technical lead on projects or solutions with moderate complexity or scope. This is an individual contributor role.

This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities

Own the architecture and delivery of the Memories applications.

Preferred:

  • Fluency in Swift and Kotlin, and comfort working in Xcode and Android Studio. Strength in one with working ability in the other is sufficient
  • Command of the platform layer and the tradeoffs that come with it.
  • Experience building for scale: performance, reliability, and offline behavior in applications with large user bases.
  • A consistent practice of building accessible experiences.
  • A disciplined approach to testing, from unit through end-to-end automation.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools, and the judgment to recognize when they are confidently wrong, particularly in native code you did not write.
