Job summary

Say Yes Buffalo Scholarship Inc. is seeking a Family Support Specialist to work with students and families facing behavioral and social-emotional challenges.

The role supports PBIS Tier 3 interventions and coordinates with school personnel and external providers to link families with services. The position emphasizes collaboration with school teams, community resources, and Say Yes programs, including facilitating scholarship processes and outreach at events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required.
• MSW preferred.
• 3 years of experience in the Social Work field.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Believe and practice Say Yes Racial Equity Statement, with commitment to equity and fair representation.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with students and families identified for PBIS Tier 3 supports.
• Adhere to laws and regulations regarding preventive services with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with service providers and school staff to coordinate referrals and services.
• Serve as liaison between providers and school personnel and inform on Say Yes services.
• Participate in school management teams and support building initiatives and events.
• Generate referrals for needs such as food, housing, and clothing.
• Support a college-going culture and Say Yes scholarship processes.
• Participate in community events and outreach with some non-traditional hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
