Job summary

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks a dynamic, self-motivated Family Programs Supervisor to develop and implement participatory programs for families, including drop-in experiences, Family Art Studio, Archaeology Dig, and Noah's Ark related activities.

The role is part of the Education and Family Programs Department and reports to the Associate Director of Noah's Ark and Family Programs. Rate is $26/hour; schedule is year-round, Tue-Sat, with potential evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher and two or more years of work experience in early childhood education, museum education, performing arts education, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated skill in offering inspiring, participatory cultural programs for children and families in an informal setting; clear resonance with Noah's Ark at the Skirball's aesthetic and educational approach.
• Experience producing events and programs such as workshops and family days; proven ability to manage the details of planning and implementing programs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; warm and welcoming manner and ability to engage positively with people of different ages and workstyles.
• Team player; ability to accept and support change and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and work styles.
• An active interest in the Skirball Cultural Center's mission and essential Jewish values
• Basic knowledge/understanding of Jewish cultural practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs to support administrative tasks.
• Spanish fluency preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, support and/or implement a wide variety of participatory arts and culture-based programs for children and families that support the Skirball's mission.
• Convey key Skirball and Noah's Ark messages and content through programs and positive visitor interactions.
• Build program and staffing schedules for Family Programs offerings, events, and Noah's Ark as needed to ensure a successful implementation of activities.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations and ongoing activities in the Family Art Studio and the Archaeology Dig.
• Guide the work of on-call and part-time educators who facilitate programs for primarily children and families.
• Produce and support ongoing work related to family programs and family festivals from planning through execution, including researching and coordinating teaching artists and performers, collaborating on program content, managing logistics, and helping ensure programs meet intended goals.
• Maintain proficiency in all Skirball school tours as assigned and team-teach alongside other educators; learn and remain current with all assigned program content and interactive teaching methodologies.
• Collaborate with Managers to provide descriptive text, logistical information, and photos as needed for marketing.
• Maintain budgets, track expenses, and generate contracts as assigned.
• Collaborate with members of the Education Department and other Departments on program development, training, and teaching, as assigned.
• Attend and actively contributes to staff meetings; bring agenda items; share areas of expertise; communicate effectively in team environment; represent Family Programs at cross-department meetings, at professional conferences, and in the community as assigned.

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, flexible team player for the position of Family Programs Supervisor. This position is part of a collaborative team that develops and implements participatory programs for families of all types, especially those with young children. These include drop-in experiences and programs in the Family Art Studio, Archaeology Dig, and Amphitheater; day-long festivals; and additional programs related to the award-winning Noah's Ark at the Skirball family destination.

The Family Programs Supervisor is a member of the Education and Family Programs Department and reports to the Associate Director of Noah's Ark and Family Programs.

Rate: $26 per/hour

Schedule: This is a year-round, full-time position; the schedule is Tuesday-Saturday. Additional weekend and evening work may be assigned, as needed.
Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, support and/or implement a wide variety of participatory arts and culture-based programs for children and families that support the Skirball's mission. Programs include drop-in experiences in the amphitheater,performances, artist workshops, day-long festivals, and programs related to Noah's Ark and the Bloom Garden, permanent and changing exhibitions.
• Convey key Skirball and Noah's Ark messages and content through programs and positive visitor interactions.
• Build program and staffing schedules for Family Programs offerings, events, and Noah's Ark as needed to ensure a successful implementation of activities.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations and ongoing activities in the Family Art Studio and the Archaeology Dig. Oversee Bloom Garden operations in the absence of the Garden Fellow, including opening, closing, and maintaining program materials.
