Healthcare Staffing Professionals is seeking a Family Partner fluent in Spanish to support Help Me Grow LA. Working under the Sr.

Family Partner Coordinator, you will guide clients with developmental concerns, share information and resources, and promote early intervention and health equity across SPA 3 or SPA 6. The role requires being a parent of a child with special needs, a valid California driver's license, and the ability to travel to service planning areas.

Qualifications

• CHW Certification or commitment to completing a CHW certificate program within 1 year of hire.
• Two years of experience as a parent representative, parent advocate or parent leader in a human or health service program serving children or families.
• Lived experience parenting a child with special needs, disabilities, and/or chronic illness.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Empathy for families from all race/ethnic groups and children with wide range of special needs.
• Ability to engender trust with partners across different sectors that serve families.
• Valid Class C California Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for clients seeking services through HMG LA
• Responsible for covering one service planning area
• Provide information and technical assistance on early intervention and other resources, and supports to parents, caregivers, and providers
• Identify and facilitate supports and collaboration activities with diverse communities within the region to promote early identification and health equity
• Offer information and resource materials at community-based public meetings, conferences, and health fairs
• Responsible for data collection and record-keeping in a client management software application
• Connect parents to a variety of training activities offered by HMG LA, other programs, and other local, state, and national organizations
• Provide support to all parents, including those non-English speakers or with limited English proficiency
• Attend DPH regional office meetings and all staff meetings
• Serve in advisory roles to regional coalitions supporting CYSHCN
• Collaborate with DPH and related programs to support the P2P program and other services
• Participate in learning community with other family partners and contribute to countywide resources

Job description

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Family Partner who is bilingual in spanish for the Help Me Grow LA program. The Family Partner who will work under the direction of the Sr. Family Partner Coordinator, providing guidance to Help Me Grow LA (HMG LA) clients seeking support for their child with developmental concerns or special needs. The Family Partner will provide information, referrals, training and support to parents facing a variety of challenges finding resources that could be helpful to their child, identifies parents for the Parent-to-Parent (P2P) program, promoting development of emerging parent advocates and leaders.

Must be parent of special needs child. Preference for someone bilingual. AND Work experience either working with people with mental health or developmental disabilities or community outreach or referral coordinator providing resources or related. Must have valid drivers license & vehicle to commute to SPA areas.

The position will start immediately upon acceptance and employment clearance and is initially funded through end of 2026 with likelihood of extension.

• Service Planning Area 3, or SPA 3, serves the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Arcadia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Duarte, El Monte, Glendora, Irwindale, Monrovia, Monterey Park, Pasadena, Pomona, San Dimas, San Gabriel, San Marino, Temple City, Walnut, West Covina, and others. OR
• Service Planning Area 6, or SPA 6, serves the communities of Athens, Compton, Crenshaw, Florence, Hyde Park, Lynwood, Paramount, and Watts.

Shifts

M-F - PART TIME (25 hours Per Week, 5 hours per day, for example: 8am - 1pm or 1pm - 6pm)

Job Duties

• Provide support for clients seeking services through HMG LA
• Responsible for covering one service planning area
• Provide information and technical assistance on early intervention and other, state and local resources, and supports to parents, caregivers, and providers
• Identify and facilitate supports and collaboration activities with diverse communities within the region to promote early identification and intervention and health equity in the region
• Offer information and resource materials at community-based public meetings, conferences, and health fairs
• Responsible for data collection and record-keeping in a client management software application
• Connect parents to a variety of training activities offered by HMG LA, other programs, and other local, state, and national organizations and agencies
• Provide support to all parents, including those who are non-English speakers or who have limited English proficiency
• Attend DPH regional office meetings, all staff meetings, and other meetings as requested
• Serve in advisory and consultant roles to regional coalitions in support of families withChildren and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN)
• Collaborate with DPH, MCAH, and Health Promotion Bureau efforts to support CYSHCN, HMG LA's Parent-to-Parent (P2P) program, the DPH central phone line, and other programs that support parents seeking help from DPH
• Participate in learning community with other family partners, contribute to identification of best practices and collaborative on development of countywide resources and initiatives.
• Establish local home for countywide P2P program
• Other duties, as requested by the Project Director or Program Manager

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• CHW Certification or commitment to completing a CHW certificate program within 1 year of hire
• Two years of experience as a parent representive, parent adovcate or parent leader in a human or health service program serving children or families.
• Lived experience parenting a child with special needs, disabilities, and/or chronic illness
• Excellent skills in the areas of interpersonal relationships, and written and verbal communications
• Empathy for families from all race/ethnic groups and children with wide range of special needs.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusion of all children and families.
• Ability to engender trust with a variety of partners working across different sectors that serve families
• Highly Responsible, self-motivated, and goal-oriented work style
• Valid Class C California Driver's License or the ability to utilizean alternative method of transportation

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with early identification and intervention
• Experience with data entry, data collection, and/or record keeping using software
• Experience providing culturally affirming support to individuals communities who are from the various cultures/ethnicities prevalent in LA County, including those most impacted by health disparities, such as African American and Native communities.
• Fluency in English and another language (e.g., Arabic, Armenian, Cambodian, Cantonese/Mandarin, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese). Fluency in multiple languages is not a required qualification.
