Job summary

Total Quality Logistics is seeking a Director of Tax for its Family Office. This role leads tax strategy, planning, and compliance overseeing multiple entities, partnerships, trusts, and real estate.

You will partner with executives and external advisors to optimize wealth preservation and tax efficiency. The position requires 10-15+ years in UHNW tax, deep expertise in partnership/trust/estate taxation, and a CPA.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of tax experience in UHNW family offices, multi-family offices, or Big 4/private client services.
• Deep experience with partnership, trust and estate taxation, and private investment structures.
• Experience overseeing complex tax structures with multiple entities and investments.
• High integrity in confidential, high-trust environments.
• Strategic thinker with strong technical tax expertise.
• Ability to translate complex tax matters for non-tax professionals.
• Collaborative across legal, investment, and accounting advisors.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• CPA required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of the family’s comprehensive tax strategy focusing on wealth preservation and long-term planning.
• Provide proactive tax planning across investments, operating businesses, trusts, and estate structures.
• Identify tax-efficient strategies for private equity, real estate, and partnerships.
• Advise on tax implications of new investment opportunities and major transactions.
• Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, and partnerships.
• Coordinate external tax advisors and accounting firms for accuracy and timeliness.
• Review tax returns, K-1s, and related documentation for alignment.
• Monitor evolving tax regulations and assess implications for structures and investments.
• Collaborate with investment team to structure investments tax-efficiently.
• Support tax analysis related to co-investments and private funds.
• Serve as liaison with external advisors and wealth planning professionals.
• Coordinate tax strategies across legal, estate planning, and investment initiatives.
• Oversee tax calendars, estimated payments, and deadlines across entities.
• Improve tax reporting and information flows across custodians and managers.
• Evaluate tax technology and reporting tools for efficiency.
