Job summary

Ingham County Health Department in Lansing, MI seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner to work independently under a collaborative agreement with the Medical Director and under clinical supervision.

You will provide primary health care to patients of all ages, develop therapeutic plans, perform examinations, prescribe medications, and participate as part of the health center team, with potential satellite responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing and NP certification in the specialty area.
• Active Michigan RN license and NP certification with ongoing recertification.
• Minimum one year NP/Provider experience in health department or similar setting.
• CPR, CLIA training, and HIV counselor certification may be required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within a health team.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct primary care to clients of all ages and develops plans of care.
• Assesses, diagnoses, treats, manages acute and chronic illnesses.
• Orders, performs, interprets, and reviews diagnostic studies.
• Prescribes and dispenses pharmaceuticals, evaluates outcomes and adjusts therapy.
• Provides health education and counseling, including family planning and preventive care.
• Makes referrals to other health care professionals and clinics.
• Maintains patient records in HIPAA-compliant systems.
• Serves as a consultant to the health center team and to students.
• May develop and supervise operations at satellite health centers.
• May be on-call for Health Department clients.
